ChoreDen — Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 22, 2026 Last Updated: June 22, 2026
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and ChoreDen (operated by an independent developer based in the United Kingdom) ("ChoreDen," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of the ChoreDen application, websites, progressive web app (PWA), and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service — or by clicking "I agree," accepting an invitation to join a household, or otherwise indicating acceptance — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (incorporated by reference). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you accept these Terms on behalf of a household, family, organization, or another person, you represent that you have authority to bind them, and "you" includes that party.
2. Description of the Service
ChoreDen is a gamified household-chore-management application for families. The Service lets a household administrator ("Household Admin") create a household, add members and child sub-profiles, define chores and rewards, and track completion. Members earn in-app points for completing chores and may spend points on in-app virtual items (such as cosmetic frames, titles, and other digital rewards) or on household-defined rewards that the household itself fulfills.
The Service is provided on an ongoing basis and may be modified, updated, suspended, or discontinued as described in these Terms. The Service is not a financial, banking, payments, escrow, employment, child-care, or supervision service.
3. Eligibility and Age Requirements
3.1 Account Holders Must Be Adults
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to create a ChoreDen account with login credentials, to act as a Household Admin, or to agree to these Terms. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
3.2 No Independent Minor Accounts
Only individuals 18 or older may register a credentialed account. We do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to create their own login. Participation by a minor in a household occurs only through a Child Sub-Profile as described in Section 5.
3.3 Children and Child Sub-Profiles
ChoreDen supports login-less Child Sub-Profiles that are created and managed by an adult Household Admin or member, and that are not associated with a child's account, email, or password. The data, consent, and parental-control rules governing Child Sub-Profiles are set out in Section 5 and the Privacy Policy. The adult who creates a Child Sub-Profile is solely responsible for obtaining any consent required from the child's parent or legal guardian and for the child's use of the Service.
3.4 Geographic Eligibility
The Service is controlled and offered from the United Kingdom. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate or available in other locations. You are responsible for compliance with local laws.
4. Accounts, Households, and Member Responsibilities
4.1 Account Registration
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering and keep it updated. You may register using email or a supported third-party sign-in (e.g., Google OAuth). Your use of third-party sign-in is also subject to that provider's terms.
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to:
- keep your password and authentication factors confidential;
- not share your login credentials; and
- notify us promptly at security@choreden.com of any unauthorized access or suspected breach.
We are not liable for loss arising from unauthorized use of your account where you failed to maintain reasonable security.
4.3 Households, Admins, and Roles
A household has one or more Household Admins and may include members and Child Sub-Profiles. Household Admins control the household and may, among other things:
- invite, add, remove, or change the role of members;
- create, edit, and remove Child Sub-Profiles;
- create and edit chores, point values, caps, and rewards;
- approve, reject, or fulfill reward redemptions; and
- act on behalf of a managed Child Sub-Profile (for example, marking a chore complete or redeeming a reward on the child's behalf).
If you are a Household Admin, you are responsible for the members and Child Sub-Profiles in your household, for the lawfulness of the data you enter about them, and for obtaining any consents required by law (see Section 5). You agree that other members and Child Sub-Profiles in your household may see household activity, names/display names, points, completed chores, uploaded photos, and similar shared content.
4.4 Invitations
Members join via an invitation code or invitation link issued by a Household Admin. You are responsible for sharing invitation codes only with people you intend to add to your household. Treat invitation codes as sensitive; anyone with a valid, unexpired code may be able to join the household to which it relates. Invitation codes are randomly generated, expire, and have limited uses; we may also revoke them.
4.5 One Person, Accurate Identity
You may not impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation. You may not maintain an account if previously removed by us, absent our written permission.
5. Children's Data, Parental Consent, and Family Use
5.1 The Family Model
ChoreDen is intended for family/household use. Child Sub-Profiles are created and managed by adults, do not have their own login, and are designed to collect minimal information about a child (for example, a display name or nickname and in-app activity such as chores completed and points). You should not enter a child's full legal name, contact information, precise location, or other unnecessary personal data into a Child Sub-Profile.
5.2 Parental/Guardian Consent
By creating or managing a Child Sub-Profile, the adult represents and warrants that they are the child's parent or legal guardian, or have obtained that parent's or guardian's verifiable consent, and that they consent on the child's behalf to the collection and use of the child's information as described in the Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted and as required by applicable law (including GDPR Article 8 / national "digital age of consent" rules in the UK/EU/EEA, and COPPA in the U.S.).
5.3 Admin Responsibility for Children
The Household Admin and the adult who created a Child Sub-Profile are solely responsible for:
- supervising the child's participation;
- the content entered about or on behalf of the child (including photos — see Section 7);
- ensuring the child's participation is age-appropriate and voluntary; and
- responding to the child's or co-parent's requests regarding the child's data, and forwarding to us any such requests we must act on.
5.4 Our Commitments and Your Rights
We aim to limit collection of children's information, to use it only to operate the Service, and not to use it for behavioral advertising or to sell or "share" it as those terms are defined under applicable law. A parent or guardian may review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection of a child's information by editing the Child Sub-Profile in-app or contacting privacy@choreden.com. See the Privacy Policy for full details, including disclosures to our service providers (e.g., our database/auth/storage provider and hosting provider).
5.5 No Knowing Collection From Unauthorized Children
We do not knowingly allow a child to create an independent credentialed account. If we learn that a child has done so without authorization, we will disable the account and delete associated data as required by law.
6. Points, Rewards, and Virtual Items (No Cash Value)
6.1 Points and In-App Virtual Items Are Not Money
Points, streaks, levels, cosmetic items (such as frames and titles), and other in-app rewards (collectively, "Virtual Items") are part of a gamified experience only. Virtual Items:
- have no monetary value and are not real currency, legal tender, credit, a financial instrument, or property;
- cannot be redeemed for cash, sold, transferred, traded, or exchanged outside the Service except as a household chooses to do offline (Section 6.3);
- are licensed, not sold, to you, for personal, non-commercial use within the Service; and
- may be adjusted, expired, recalculated, capped, or removed by a Household Admin or by us (for example, to correct errors, abuse, or bugs) without compensation.
ChoreDen does not sell Virtual Items for real money, and there are no paid purchases or subscriptions within the Service.
6.2 Household-Defined Rewards
Household Admins may define household rewards that members "purchase" with points. The nature, availability, and fulfillment of household rewards are set entirely by the household, not by ChoreDen.
6.3 Allowance / Cash and Other Offline Rewards Are Fulfilled by the Household — Not by ChoreDen
A household may, at its sole option, create rewards labeled as money, "allowance," cash, gift cards, privileges, or other real-world items (an "Offline Reward"). For Offline Rewards:
- ChoreDen does not provide, process, hold, escrow, guarantee, or transfer any money, allowance, or other consideration. The Service merely records that a member has requested or "redeemed" an Offline Reward and lets a Household Admin mark it approved, rejected, or fulfilled.
- All Offline Rewards are arranged and fulfilled manually and offline, entirely between members of the household. Any obligation to actually pay an allowance, give cash, or deliver a real-world item is a private matter within the household and is not an obligation of ChoreDen.
- ChoreDen is not a party to any agreement, promise, or arrangement between household members regarding Offline Rewards, makes no guarantee that any Offline Reward will be paid or delivered, and is not responsible for disputes, non-payment, taxes, or any harm arising from Offline Rewards.
- The display of an Offline Reward (including any currency figure or "£"/"$" amount) in the Service is a household-created label only and does not mean ChoreDen owes, holds, or will pay anything.
You agree to look solely to your household — not to ChoreDen — for any Offline Reward, and you release ChoreDen from claims arising out of Offline Rewards to the maximum extent permitted by law.
6.4 No Gambling / No Real-Money Wagering
Virtual Items may not be used for any form of gambling, betting, or real-money wagering. In-app competitive features (e.g., chore "battles" or leaderboards) are for entertainment and award only Virtual Items.
7. User Content (Including Uploaded Photos)
7.1 Your Content
The Service lets you submit content, including chore-completion photos, avatars, display names, chore and reward descriptions, notes, and messages ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.
7.2 License to ChoreDen
You grant ChoreDen a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (e.g., resize/format), display, and distribute your User Content solely as needed to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service and as permitted by the Privacy Policy. This license ends when your User Content is deleted, except (a) where retained in backups for a limited period or as required by law, and (b) for content others have re-shared within their household that you cannot unilaterally delete.
7.3 Your Responsibility for User Content
You represent and warrant that you own or have all rights necessary to submit your User Content and to grant the license above, and that your User Content does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right (including privacy, publicity, and IP rights).
7.4 Photos of People, Homes, and Children — Special Care
Chore photos may depict people (including children), home interiors, or other sensitive scenes. Uploaded images are stored privately and are served only to authorized members of your household through the Service; they are not made publicly accessible by URL. Nevertheless, you agree that you:
- will upload photos of other people, including minors, only with appropriate consent (and, for children, the consent of their parent/guardian);
- will not upload images that reveal more than necessary or that you do not have the right to share; and
- understand that photos you upload are visible to other members of your household, so you should avoid uploading sensitive, identifying, or compromising images.
7.5 Prohibited Content
You must not upload, post, or share User Content that:
- is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or threatening;
- is sexually explicit, or that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor (we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities as required by law and terminate offending accounts);
- depicts a person without the consent required by law;
- contains malware, scripts, or code intended to disrupt the Service;
- reveals another person's private or personal information without authorization; or
- violates any applicable law or third-party right.
7.6 No Obligation to Monitor; Removal
We are not obligated to monitor User Content but may review, remove, or restrict any User Content or account at our discretion, including for suspected violations of these Terms.
7.7 Feedback
If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use it without obligation to you.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to, and not to allow any household member or third party to:
- use the Service in violation of any law or these Terms;
- access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service, our systems, or our service providers' systems;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent security or authentication measures (including row-level access controls, server-side functions, or rate limits), except as expressly authorized through a responsible-disclosure report to security@choreden.com;
- attempt to access data of households, members, or children you are not authorized to access, or enumerate, scrape, or harvest identifiers, invitation codes, or other data;
- use the Service's database, authentication, storage, or notification systems other than through the Service's intended interfaces;
- send spam, or use invitations or notifications to send unsolicited or abusive messages;
- use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
- manipulate points, rewards, leaderboards, or anti-abuse mechanisms (including timing limits and daily caps), or exploit bugs for unfair advantage;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission; or
- impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure.
We may investigate and take appropriate action, including suspension or termination and referral to law enforcement, for any violation.
9. Push Notifications and Communications
The Service may send push notifications (via the Web Push standard) and emails (for example, household invitations and transactional messages via our email provider). You can control push notifications through your browser/device settings. We send only transactional and security-related emails; we do not send marketing email. Your use of notifications is also subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable anti-spam law.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (including our database/authentication/storage provider, email-delivery provider, sign-in provider(s), push-delivery infrastructure, and hosting provider). The Service may also link to or interoperate with third-party services we do not control. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. See the Privacy Policy for a description of our service providers.
11. Intellectual Property; License to You
The Service and all associated software, designs, text, graphics, logos, trademarks (including "ChoreDen" and our marks), and other materials (excluding User Content) are owned by ChoreDen or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial household use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written consent.
12. Disclaimers and Warranty Limitations
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, THAT DATA (INCLUDING POINTS, PHOTOS, OR HOUSEHOLD CONTENT) WILL BE ACCURATE, PRESERVED, OR NOT LOST, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING YOUR OWN COPIES OF IMPORTANT CONTENT.
WE MAKE NO WARRANTY REGARDING ANY OFFLINE REWARD OR ANY CONDUCT OF HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, AND WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE BEHAVIOR, SUPERVISION, OR SAFETY OF ANY PERSON. THE SERVICE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PARENTAL SUPERVISION.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law (including, in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015) that cannot be excluded or limited.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
(a) IN NO EVENT WILL CHOREDEN OR ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST VIRTUAL ITEMS OR POINTS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
(b) CHOREDEN WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR OFFLINE REWARDS, INCLUDING ANY ALLOWANCE, CASH, OR ITEM A HOUSEHOLD CHOOSES TO PROVIDE OR FAILS TO PROVIDE, OR FOR DISPUTES BETWEEN HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS.
(c) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (i) the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim OR (ii) GBP £100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in those jurisdictions, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, where non-excludable).
14. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ChoreDen and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or any law; (d) your management of a household, members, or Child Sub-Profiles, including any failure to obtain required consents; or (e) any Offline Reward or dispute within your household.
15. Suspension and Termination
15.1 By You
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account (and any household made up of only you and your child sub-profiles) yourself from Profile → Danger zone in the app, and you can download a copy of your data from your Profile. If you need help, contact support@choreden.com.
15.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access (in whole or part), with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or the law, to protect the Service, other users, or children, to comply with legal requirements, or if providing the Service to you becomes impractical.
15.3 Effect of Termination
On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Deletion of an account or household may delete associated data, including Virtual Items and points, without compensation. We may retain certain data as described in the Privacy Policy and as required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 6, 7.2–7.7, 11–14, 16, and 17) will survive termination.
16. Changes to the Terms and to the Service
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by updating the "Last Updated" date and/or by in-app or email notice). Changes are effective when posted unless stated otherwise. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service. We may also add, change, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any non-waivable consumer rights (including a consumer's right to bring proceedings in their country of residence), the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.
18. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement. These Terms and the documents they incorporate (including the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and ChoreDen regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary.
- No Waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No Third-Party Beneficiaries. Except as expressly stated, there are no third-party beneficiaries.
- Force Majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices. We may provide notices via the Service or to your registered email. Legal notices to us must be sent to support@choreden.com.
